No pictures tonight, once again, but it was the perfect night for a race!  The weather stayed below 80
degrees all day, and there was a nice breeze blowing through the area.  Fluffy, white clouds dotted the
sky, but no threat of rain ever appeared.  3 cars and many fans were lost to the rain delay as many have to
work tomorrow, but the look of the field promised a good show for the night!

Things got underway as normal, until a problem during qualifying turned into a very large drama.  Donny
Schatz was determined to have been interfered with during his qualifying lap as the previous car was in
his line as it came into the pits.  When Donny completed his qualifying and rolled onto the scales, he
expressed his displeasure.  The officials had already discussed it, and since he requested, he got
another qualifying lap.  The rest of the drivers were livid to say the least.  Led by a very irate Steve
Kinser, a very long, loud argument followed.  Steve was angry enough to pack up his car in the hauler and
get ready to head out.  Luckily, he was talked out of it as a great deal of fans come out to see him.

As the track officials worked the racing surface, the morons (strongest word I can use here) from Speed
TV talked a helicopter pilot into taking them over the track.  Not only did he fly them around low above the
pits and grandstands (an event that is strictly forbidden by the FAA), but he did so very erratically in a
manner that really put the fans, competitors, track officials, and everyone else in the area at risk.  It was
the biggest bonehead move of the night that could have resulted in a horrific accident.  Those people
need to be whipped for a very long time.  The track officials were far from happy and made several
attempts to contact the group to get them out of the area.

The events flowed very well throughout the night, with a few wrecks, but overall things went very well.
When the checkered flag flew, it was Daryn Pittman, one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in the pits,
who was crowned.  His wife was seen extremely overjoyed as was good friend and fellow competitor,
Terry McCarl.  We now have yet another king for the 50 year reunion!

The racing was awesome all night!  It was well worth the extra day stay.  Tomorrow it will be in the car and
back to Iowa to get back to work and prepare for the Nationals.  This has been a great week!
