This is our group of six who gutted the contents of two houses in a matter of 7 hours. Joey (back left) took vacation from work to come help out his friend, Kerri, who works in his building. Mark (back right) is Kerri's boyfriend, and lived 6 doors down from her. His house was condemned when all was said and done as the water line in his house was 6 inches from the ceiling and the basement walls had given way. Nancy (front left) took vacation to help her best friend, Kerri, dig out from the devastation. I am standing next to Nancy. Nancy's daughter, Heather, came out to help, thankfully, because she has a much stronger stomach than Nancy and I. Dry pasta that sits in flood water for 8 days gets nothing short of rancid. Nancy and I still can't eat pasta. Finally, there is Kerri (right front). Kerri is a wonderful person with what once was a beautiful home that ended up with a water line about a foot from the ceiling. We wanted to get a tribute photo to the people of Katrina with us standing on the porch in all of our glory. Unfortunately, it started pouring down rain (like we needed it), so we had to put the neighbor on the porch with the camera and we stood in the rain, washing some of the sludge off.
